First Day...

of preschool.

mom and dad cried....

She went inside and sat at a table with four little boys....
Dad sat in the parking lot... fighting the urge to go in and get her....

fighting back the lump in his throat...

I remember his first day of school ...standing in line at the bus stop..wearing teenage mutant ninja turtles jacket... a backpack filled with his batman toys...

I remember standing at the bus stop long after the bus pulled off... staring at the suddenly empty spaces in my heart.
